Carmen David's story is nothing short of miraculous. 22 hours after the birth of her second daughter, Carmen suffered an aortic dissection, a tear in the body's main artery that carries blood to the rest of the body. She nearly lost her life, but has used her inspirational story to spread awareness, be a fierce advocate, and give back to the aortic community.

She founded Run for Aortic Health, which helped her to fulfill a purpose for helping others on the journey, as she still continued her own healing. Carmen's passion has always been for the patient and supporting initiatives important for their ability to thrive again on their journey.

Since the beginning, Run for Aortic Health has sent over $150,000 to The John Rittter Foundation and related aortic studies and initiatives with the aim of improving lives of those affected. Projects given toward include aortic genetic research, research for cases related to pregnancy/post partum, resource guidebooks for patients, and exercise research which aims to build evidence based guidelines on safe exercise for aortic patients. All of these help save and improve the lives of those living with aortic disease. For more details please visit the main website at https://runforaortichealth.com/
